Der 8. FH OÖ Linztriathlon 2012 ist Teil der neuen Triathlon-Serie WORLD TRIATHLETE 1. Diese in Tschechien von Roman Jaroš initierte Serie wird heuer zum ersten mal international ausgetragen. Der Hintergrund ist eine Cupwertung über die verschiedensten Triathlons in Europa und dem Rest der Welt. Das Projekt (WT1) bzw. das Punkte-Ranking ist mit 40.000,- Euro dotiert.
Das System ist ein einfaches Punktesystem, bei dem jeder Finisher bis zum 200. Rang Punkte bekommt. Diese Punkte werden auf unterschiedlichen Triathlons gesammelt und am Ende der Saison zusammengezählt und prämiert.
Mit dabei sind nebem dem Linztriathlon, der Czech-Bigman, der Duathlon in Zofingen und auch Wintertriathlons.

The LINZTRIATHLON is 2012 part of the new tria-series WORLD TRIATHLETE 1 (WT1). Founded in Czech Rep. by Mr. Roman Jaroš, the series will be held for the first time in international competitions. The WORLD TRIATHLETE 1 project consists of a number of chosen races held round the world within one calendar year at least in four different sports disciplines of TRIATHLON as a sport branch. This project is announced for male and female categories. Results achieved in particular races will be transposed into points. The highest number of points from each sport discipline will be counted to the total WORLD TRIATHLETE 1 rank.
Final WORLD TRIATHLETE 1 rank in separate categories (men and women) will be given by the total of points from each sport discipline. There is a condition to score in all sports disciplines announced in appropriate year. Competitor who wins maximum points in the end of calendar year becomes the best world triathlete (male and female) for the given year.
